Biography

Soulidium’s second album, Awaken, released (October 30, 2015), and features hard hitting metal duet Fly to the Sun that Michael McKnight and Sevendust vocalist Lajon Witherspoon, recorded with Shawn Grove at Jan Smith Studios in Atlanta, (Music recorded in Tampa).

Awaken would be mixed & mastered by Ryan Denman with the original album art designed by world renowned artist David Bollt

The balance of the album was recorded at RedRoom Recorders in Tampa, Florida, with Wes Dearth, (Porcupine Tree), with all vocal production being completed at DEE-I Studios.

Awaken represents the rare spiritual creative bond Soulidium has. Soulidium has always been able to almost magically write their songs on the spot with music, melodies and lyrics simultaneously being born together. That’s a true rarity for any band. It was also a musical soulmates experience that none of the bandmembers would ever experience again after Soulidium.

“Every song on the album has a deep meaning and tells the real life story of all the turbulence, pain, glory, & adventure that comes with being an American rock & metal band.” -M

After releasing their 2nd album Awaken, Soulidium disbanded sometime after the departure of Guitarist Spyder Z. Prime, (Psykill).

Michael would spent the next several years away from the music industry successfully developing the Tattoo Franchise Division of DEE-I alongside his wife VP/Head Tattoo Artist, Carolyn McKnight, (Tattoo & Inked Magazine, Best Ink, SFX), and CFO, Angelina McKnight, (3D Animation/SFX/Set Design).

After the dark days of the pandemic, Michael and his former bandmates reached out to each other. There was never a better time to rediscover the powerful creative magic & friendship that they had shared for so long.

In 2022 Michael officially rejoined with Soulidium bandmates Danny Cayocca, Jerry Morte and Ilyn Nathaniel who are already several songs into their 3rd, new upcoming album, Revolution, which will be released through Dark Empire Entertainment in 2024.

More announcements to come! “Ars Longa, Vita Brevis”, (Art is long, Life is short).
